Paneer Manchurian consists of paneer in a spicy sauce. It is entirely a creation of Chinese restaurants in India, and bears little resemblance to traditional Chinese cuisine. Other popular variant replaces paneer with chicken, cauliflower,commonly known as chicken manchurian and gobi manchurian respectively. Other possibilities include prawn, fish or mutton.

Ingredients for Paneer Manchurian Recipe
For the paneer marination
- Paneer – 250 gms
- Cornflour – 5 tbsp
- Ginger- garlic paste – ½ tsp
- Green chilli sauce – 1 tbsp
- Baking powder – ½ tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Oil – for frying
For the sauce
- Ginger- garlic paste – 2 tsp
- Green chilli sauce – 1 tbsp
- Oil – 1 tsp
- Soya sauce – 2 tbsp
- Tomato sauce – 1 tbsp
- Green chillies – 2(slit)
- Cornflour – 1 tbsp
- Spring onions – chopped for garnishing
Procedure for preparing Paneer Manchurian Recipe
Cut the paneer into cubes. Make a batter with cornflour, ginger-garlic paste, baking powder, green chilli sauce, salt and a little water. Now dip each paneer cube in the batter and then deep fry them in hot oil.
For the sauce : Heat oil in a pan and add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies and sauté for 2 minutes.
add ½ cup water and bring to boil. To this add the cornflour dissolved in water along with the soya sauce, tomato sauce, green chilli sauce, vinegar and salt and mix well. Once you get the required consistency of the gravy, add the fried paneer cubes and cook till the sauce is well blended with the paneer cubes. Serve hot garnished with chopped spring onions.
