Chilli Chicken is a very popular Chinese dish which has become highly popular in other parts of the world. The recipe that follows is a quick way of making chilli chicken for people who are in a hurry.
Ingredients for Chilli Chicken
- Chicken – 1/2 kilograms
- Onion – 2 large (cubed)
- Garlic – 4 flakes (chopped)
- Ginger – 1 inch (chopped)
- Green chillies – 4 (slit and de-seeded)
- Capsicum – 1 small (cubed)
- Soya bean sauce – 2 tbsp
- Vinegar – 1 tbsp
- Tomato ketchup – 1 tbsp
- Cornflour – 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Water
Procedure for preparing Chilli Chicken
Clean the chicken pieces and cook it with salt and pepper. Keep aside the cooked chicken . Also keep the remaining water used for cooking the chicken in a separate bowl.
In a frying pan heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add the garlic, ginger, onions,capsicum and green chillies and sauté till the the onion turns pink.
Now add the chicken pieces to it and fry for a minute and then add soya bean sauce, vinegar and tomato ketchup and stir for another minute. Add the cornflour (mixed in water) to this (I generally add very less cornflour because of my kid, you can use cornflour as per your requirement).
Now add the the remaining water that you kept aside. Bring it to boil and cook it on low flame till you get the required consistency. The chilli chicken is now ready to be served.
