Beckti Kasha is a popular Bengali preparation with a thick gravy and tastes tangy, and works well as an appetizer and also a main dish.

Ingredients for Bhetki Kasha Recipe
For fish marination:
- Bhetki – 500 gms
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Mustard oil – to fry the fish pieces
For the gravy:
- Garlic – 4-5 flakes
- Tomato – 1 small (½ of 1 medium)
- Kala jeera – ½ tsp
- Cumin powder – 1 tsp
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Green chillies – 2-3(slit)
- Coriander leaves – ½ cup(chopped)
- Salt – to taste
- Mustard oil – 3 tbsp
Procedure for preparing Bhetki Kasha Recipe
Marinate the fish pieces with turmeric and salt and keep aside for 10 minutes.
Heat mustard oil in a pan and then lightly fry the fish pieces (do not fry them till crisp) and keep aside.
Make a paste of garlic,cumin powder,chilli powder and tomato.
Heat mustard oil in a pan/kadhai and add the kala jeera, allow it to splutter. Now add the prepared paste and stir well on low flame for about 5-6 minutes till the masala is cooked .
Add salt, green chillies and the fish pieces and mix well tell the fish is properly coated with the masala. Check seasoning and remove from fire.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
