Uttapam is another delicious dish from Southern India where the dosa batter is used to make it and then it is garnished with the desired toppings like onion, tomatoes, capsicum etc. There are a variety of Uttappams. It not only looks delicious but also tastes heavenly when served hot with sambar or coconut chutney. In this recipe the topping is of Onion, tomatoes, coriander leaves and green chillies.
Ingredients for Onion Tomato Uttappam Recipe
- Dosa batter
- Onion – 2 big(finely chopped)
- Tomato – 2 (finely chopped)
- Green chillies – 2 (finely chopped)
- Oil – to rub on the uttappam
- Coriander leaves – ¼ cup
Procedure for preparing Onion Tomato Uttappam Recipe
Heat a flat pan and rub it nicely with oil. Now pour a big spoonful of the dosa batter and spread it in circular motion to a size of a roti but with thickness (it shouldn’t be very thin) and garnish immediately with some onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves and green chillies.
After one side is cooked apply some oil on top and turn it over and cook the other side.
Remove from the frying pan and serve hot with Coconut chutney, Sambar, Onion sambar or Onion Coconut chutney.
