Spicy Crab Curry Recipe

Spicy Crab Curry is a very popular seafood in Sri Lanka. This rich spicy dish is served with plain rice.

Ingredients for preparing Spicy Crab Curry:

  • Crab : 4 pieces
  • Onion paste : 4 tbsp
  • Garlic paste : 4 tbsp
  • Ginger paste : 1 tbsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder : 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder : 1 tsp
  • Green chilli : 2 pieces (slit)
  • Tomato puree : ½ cup
  • Salt : to taste
  • Oil : as required
  • Garam masala powder : 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice : 1 tbsp
  • Poppy seed paste : 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seed : 1 tsp
  • Bay leaves : 1 piece
  • Ghee : 1 tbsp

Procedure for preparing Spicy Crab Curry:

  • Wash & clean the crabs. Cut each into o pieces.
  • Marinate the crab with salt & lemon juice for an hour.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds & bay leaves.
  • Add garlic paste, onion paste. Stir in low flame till golden brown.
  • Add crab & stir till its colour changes.
  • Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, tomato puree, salt & poppy seed paste.
  • Stir & when oil releases add 1 cup of water.
  • Cook till crab tenders.
  • Sprinkle garam masala, green chilli & ghee.
  • Remove from heat & serve.
