Bheja Fry Recipe

Bheja/Magaj or brain of a goat is a delicacy and very nutritious dish, especially kids & lactating mothers. It is a very good source of DHA.

Ingredients for Bheja Fry

  • Goat brain – 2 full
  • Cumin seeds powder – ½ tbsp
  • Black pepper powder – ½ tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp
  • Pure ghee or butter – 2 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves – for garnishing
  • Water – as required

Procedure for preparing Bheja Fry

First clean and wash the brain.Carefully remove membranes or nerves. Boil it with salt, water and turmeric powder till it’s tender and the water evaporates. Now cut into desired size pieces.

Heat ghee or butter in  a non stick pan and add boiled bheja pieces, sauté for 5 minutes.

Add salt and cumin powder, sauté it. Lastly add pepper powder and stir well.

Garnish with coriander leaves, serve hot with paratha, roomali roti or roti.
