Chocolate cake is a yummy delicacy made with chocolate and other ingredients. It is hard to resist and extremely simple to make.I usually make cakes on birthdays or for Christmas and New Year. My husband and my daughter love the chocolate cake that I make.It is a nice dessert to end your meal as well.
Ingredients for Chocolate cake Recipe:
For the chocolate cake
- Eggs – 4
- Cocoa powder -½ cup
- Powdered sugar – 1¼ cups
- Oil -¾ cup
- Maida (all purpose flour) – 1 cup
- Baking powder – 1¾ tsp
- Vanilla esssence – 1 tsp
For the Icing
- Milk – ½ cup
- Dairy milk chocolate – 1 medium
- Icing sugar – ½ cup
- Cocoa powder – 2 tbsp
Procedure for preparing Chocolate Cake
Beat the eggs and sugar in a bowl trill very frothy. Add essence to this. Add oil gradually and keep beating slowly.
Sift the maida, baking powder and cocoa . Sprinkle 1/2 of the maida mixture on the egg mixture and with help of a spoon and with downward and forward motion, fold the maida gently. Now add the remaining maida also. Fold in all the maida gently.
Transfer this cake mix to a greased round tin of 8″ diameter and bake at 180 C/ 350 C for around 30-35 minutes. You can test the cake by inserting a clean knife or safety pin in the centre of the cake. If it comes out clean, your cake is ready.
Procedure for preparing the icing
Take the chocolate slab and break it into smaller pieces. Take a heat proof glass or metal bowl and add all the ingredients including the chocolate and place it over a saucepan of boiling water making this a double boiler.
Once the water is boiled reduce heat and stir the ingredients continuously with a spoon. When the chocolate is melted and you get the required consistency for the chocolate icing switch off the fire and remove the bowl from the saucepan
Note: Do not melt chocolate on direct heat.
Now pour this icing on the prepared cake and cover the surface with chocolate flakes and finally decorating with gems or even chocolate leaves.
Yummy chocolate cake is ready to be served.
