Thai Fried Rice is a variety of fried rice typical of central Thai cuisine. In Thai, khao means “rice” and pad means “of or relating to being stir- fried”. This dish differs from Chinese fried rice is that it is prepared with Thai jasmine rice instead of regular long-grain rice.
Ingredients For Thai Stir-Fried Rice Recipe
- Steamed rice – 200 gms
- Spring onions – 2 tbsp(chopped)
- Red chilli paste – 1 ½ tbsp
- Basil – 4 tbsp (chopped)
- Assorted veggies ( capsicum, carrots, French beans,mushrooms) – 4 tbsp (chopped)
- Soy sauce – 1 ½ tsp
- Oil – 1 ½ tbsp
- Coriander leaves – 3 sprigs
- Lime Leaves – 5
- Salt to taste
Procedure for preparing Thai Stir- Fried Rice
Heat oil in a wok/pan and add spring onions, chili paste and basil and sauté well.
Add vegetables and salt and toss. Now add the rice, soy sauce, coriander and lime leaves and again toss together on high heat. Serve hot with chicken or any Thai side dish.
