Dahi Machhi is a delicacy traditionally made with fish and curd. It is a lip smacking curry from Orissa.
Ingredients for preparing Dahi Machhi:
- Ruhi fish : 500 gm
- Curd : 200 gm
- Onion paste : 1 piece
- Garlic paste : 1 tsp
- Ginger paste : 1 tsp
- Green chilli paste : 1 tbsp
- Sugar : 2 tsp
- Ghee : 1 tbsp
- Roasted Cumin seed powder : 1 ½ tsp
- Cardamom : 2 pieces (crushed)
- Cinnamon : 1†(crushed)
- Clove : 2 pieces (crushed)
- Salt : to taste
- Garam masala powder : 1 tsp
Procedure for preparing Dahi Machhi:
- Mix onion paste, garlic paste, ginger paste, green chilli paste, sugar & curd. Mix well.
- Wash the fishes & mix well with the curd mixture. Keep aside for 1 hour.
- Heat ghee in a wok.
- Add cardamom, cinnamon, clove.
- When it releases smell add curd mixture with fishes. Add salt & cook till fishes become tender.
- Spreading cumin seed powder & garam masala powder, remove it from heat.
- Serve with steamed Basmati rice.
