Sujir Payesh Recipe

Durga Puja is a very big occasion for all Bengalis. On the Sandhi Puja night the goddess is offered Sujir Payesh with Luchi. This Sujir Payesh is a very tasty sweet dish. This dish is offered not only on the duraga puja, but also on any special day as a dessert.

Ingredients for preparing Sujir Payesh:

  • Suji (semolina): 250 gm
  • Sugar : 200 gm
  • Milk: 500 ml
  • Ghee : 2 tbsp
  • Cashew nut : 50 gm
  • Raisin: 50 gm
  • Bay leaf: 1 piece
  • Whole cardamom: 2 pieces

Procedure for preparing Sujir Payesh:

  • Heat a pan.
  • Add Ghee.
  • Add cardamom & bay leaf. Allow it to change its colour.
  • Add suji & stir continuously till it becomes golden brown.
  • Pour milk, cashew & raisin.
  • Boil for 3 minutes.
  • Add sugar & cook till it thickens.
  • Remove from heat & serve.
