Procedure fro preparing Jeera Rice Recipe
Soak the rice in water for 20 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
Meanwhile in a different vessel boil 6 cups of water with the required salt.
Heat ghee in a big kadhai/vessel and add the bay leaves, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves.
Once they turn light brown add the jeera/cumin seeds and allow it to splutter.
To this add the rice and stir well till the rice changes its colour lightly.
Now add the boiling water to the rice and mix well.
Let it boil again. Remove from fire.
Now closed the vessel with a lid that fits well and clip it on the sides and keep a weight on top so that the steam doesn’t escape.
After half an hour you will see that the rice is cooked and ready to be served.
Note: You can cook the rice the way you want without a lid. I prepare it like this.
