Bengali Cabbage Curry Recipe

Cabbage is an excellent source of vitamin C & also it is used in dieting program. Cabbage curry is one of the easiest way of having vitamin C & moreover it is not at all spicy.

Ingredients for preparing Bengali Cabbage Curry:

  • Cabbage : 1 piece (finely chopped)
  • Potato : 2 pieces (diced)
  • Whole cumin seeds : 1 tsp
  • Bay Leaves : 1 piece
  • Sugar : 1 tsp
  • Green Chilli : 4 pieces (cut lengthwise)
  • Tomato : 1 piece (chopped)
  • Salt : to taste
  • Ghee : 1 tbsp
  • Oil : ½ cup
  • Green Peas : 1 cup
  • Ginger paste : 1 tbsp

Procedure for preparing Bengali Cabbage Curry:

  • Heat oil in a wok.
  • Add whole cumin seeds & bay leaves in low flame.
  • Add potatoes. Stir well till golden brown.
  • Add green peas, tomatoes. Stir for a minute.
  • Add sugar, salt, ginger, green chilli.
  • Add cabbage & stir well for 2 minutes.
  • Cover & cook for 3 minutes.
  • Uncover & stir till oil releases.
  • Pour ghee before removing & serve hot with plain rice or chapatti.
