Peas Pulao Recipe

Green peas pulao is a delicious rice dish of northern India. Although there various kinds of pulao like mixed vegetable pulao or carrot pulao etc.I usually make green peas pulao at home as it is very easy and at the same time delicious.

Ingredients for Peas Pulao Recipe

  • Green peas – 2 cups
  • Govinda bhog rice/ basmati rice –  4 cups
  • Tej patta(bay leaf) – 2
  • Cloves – 4
  • Cardamom – 4
  • Cinnamon – 1 inch
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Water – 8 cups(exactly double the quantity of rice)
  • Salt to taste

Procedure for preparing Peas Pulao

Soak the rice in water for half an hour. Then drain the water and spread it on a paper and dry it.Meanwhile heat oil in a deep dish (enough large to cook the rice) and add tej patta, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. Sauté for a while .

Now add the rice and peas and again sauté for another few minutes. Side by side in a different vessel boil exactly double the water than the rice(use the same measuring cup for both rice and water),also add the salt required to the water.

Add the boiling water to the rice and again bring to boil. Now remove from heat and close it with a tight lid, clip it on the sides and keep a heavy weight on top .

After half an hour open the lid the rice will be cooked and peas rice will be ready to serve.
