Ingredients for Chemeen Theeyal Recipe
- Prawn – 250 gms
- Coconut (medium) – Â½ (scraped)
- Chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Dhania powder -= 1 tsp
- Methi seeds – a few
- Fennel seeds – a few
- Curry leaves – 1 strand
- Turmeric powder – Â¼ tsp
- Tomato – 1 (chopped)
- Onion shallots – 100 gms
- Potato – 1 (cubed)
- Coconut oil – 2 tbsp
- Salt – to taste
Procedure for preparing Chemeen Theeyal Recipe
De-shell and wash the prawns. Roast the scraped coconut, curry leaves, turmeric powder, tomato and onion shallots for a few minutes, then grind them into a fine paste.
Heat oil in a pan and add the paste to it. SautÃ© till it becomes lightly maroon in colour.
To this add coriander powder, salt and chilli powder and sautÃ© for another 2 minutes.
Finally add prawns and add required water to cook the prawns. When the prawns are done, check seasoning and remove from fire.
Serve hot with rice.
