Swiss roll or jelly roll is a type of sponge cake roll. The thin cake is made of eggs, flour and sugar and baked in a very shallow rectangular baking tray on which jam is spread and cut into circular slices. It is a very yummy snack for kids.
Ingredients for Swiss Roll Recipe
- Maida – 100 gms
- Sugar – 100 gms
- Eggs – 3
- Baking powder – ¼ tsp
- Powdered sugar – 1 tsp
- Vanilla essence – 2-3 drops
- Jam – for filling
- Grease paper sheets – 2 sheets
Procedure for preparing Swiss Rolls
Sieve together maida and baking powder. Now beat the eggs and sugar till they are soft and creamy.
Add the flour and vanilla essence to the egg and sugar mis( make sure to fold in the flour slowly). Line a swiss roll tray( or any rectangular baking mould) with greased paper and transfer the mix into the tray.
Spread the mix properly and bake it at 180°c for 20 minutes. Sprinkle powdered sugar on the other grease paper and Turn the baked dough onto this grease paper. Now spread jam on top and roll with the help of the greased paper.
Finally cut into slices and serve. Kids will just love it.
