Bajra roti (rotis prepared by pearl millet) are very common in Northern India and and is prepared by a combination of the pearl millet flour and atta(wheat flour).
Ingredients for Bajra Roti
- Bajra Flour – 1 cup
- Atta(wheat flour) – 2 cups
- Salt to taste
- Water to knead into a dough
- Butter
Procedure for preparing Bajra Rotis
Mix Bajra flour, atta and salt together. We take lesser amount of bajra flour and more of atta because if it is other way round it will be very difficult to roll out the rotis in shape and the rotis will become hard. Now add water in small amounts to knead a firm dough. After kneading the the cover the dough with a wet muslin cloth and keep it aside for at least half an hour.
Now make medium sized balls out of the dough. After making the balls roll these balls with a rolling pin into circular rotis . Heat a tava/ flat pan and cook the rotis by applying butter on them. If you want you can add a cube of butter on the rotis while serving. Bajra rotis are ready to be served hot.
