Ruhi Sorse Bata Recipe

Rui Sorse Bata is a delicacy of Bengal where the rui/rohu fish is cooked in mustard oil and mustard gravy. This dish can be made with a little bit of gravy or can be cooked dry without gravy.

Ingredients for Rui Sorse bata Recipe

  • Rui/Ruhi – 500 gms
  • Black mustard seeds – 2 tbsp
  • White mustard seeds – 2 tbsp
  • Mustard oil – 3 tbsp
  • Green chillies – 3 – 4
  • Salt – to taste

Procedure for preparing Rui Sorse Bata recipe

Clean the fish and keep aside. Now grind the white and black mustard seeds into a smooth paste.

Marinate the fish pieces with this mustard paste, mustard oil green chillies and salt and keep aside for 20 minutes.

Now heat a pan and on very low heat cook the marinated fish. You can add ½ cup of water to cook. This preparation does not have much gravy so more water should not be added. Once the fish pieces are cooked well, remove from fire.
