Chicken Rezala Recipe

Chicken Rezala is a dish that is generally served with biryani in East India but can also be teamed with rotis or rice. It is a creamy dish which is highly flavoured.

This recipe which I have posted is a very simple and easy recipe. One of the ingredients in this recipe is char magaz which is a combination of four seeds/nuts: Almonds, Pumpkin seeds, Cantaloupe Seeds and Water melon seeds.

Serves – 2

Ingredients for Chicken Rezala Recipe

  • Chicken – 250 gms
  • Onion – 1 big
  • Cardamom– 3
  • Cloves-3
  • Cinnamon – 1 inch
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Garlic– 4-5 flakes
  • Char magaz – 1 tsp
  • Poppy seeds – ¼ cup
  • Green chillies – 2(slit)
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil/ghee – 2 tbsp
  •  Water – as required

Procedure for preparing Chicken Rezala Recipe

Clean the chicken pieces and keep aside.

Make a paste of onion, garlic and ginger.

Heat oil/ghee in a pan and add cardamom, cloves and cinnamon and stir it once. To this add the onion-ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 5-6 minutes.

Now add the chicken pieces and sauté again for 5 minutes.

Add required water and salt and bring it to boil. Now cover with a lid and cook the chicken on low flame.

Meanwhile make a paste of poppy seeds, green chillies and char magaz with very little water.

Once the chicken is cooked add the poppy seed and char magaz paste to it and mix well. Check seasoning and serve hot with biryani, rice or rotis.
