Ingredients for Basic White Bread Recipe
- Hot Water – ½ cup
- Cold Milk – ¼ cup
- Sugar – 1 tbsp
- Active Dry Yeast – 1 tbsp
- All Purpose Flour/Bread Flour – 2½ cups
- Salt – ½ tsp
- Unsalted Butter at room temperature – 1 tbsp
- Egg – 1
- Vegetable Oil – 1 tbsp
Procedure for preparing Basic White Bread Recipe
Add the cold milk to the hot water. Add sugar and yeast to this and stir till the sugar dissolves. Now allow the yeast to bloom. This usually takes around 10 minutes.
Now, in a large bowl, add 1½ cups flour. Add salt to it and mix. Add the egg and butter. Mix.
Add the yeast mixture to this. Now gradually add the rest of the flour to make a soft dough. Oil a large bowl. Knead the dough well, make it a round dough and place it in the bowl. Oil the dough. Wrap the bowl loosely with Plastic Food Wrap. Allow it to ferment.
After about 2½ hours, the dough will have risen to almost double. Remove the plastic wrap, knead it again, and again place it in the bowl covered with plastic wrapper. Leave it for 1 hour.
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
Remove the dough and divide it into 3 equal portions. Roll them out into 3 long pieces. Now place them on the baking tray and braid them. Place this tray in the oven for about 20 minutes. Check and leave it in the oven as needed.
Remove the bread from the oven and spread it with butter.
Your bread is ready. You can store it in an air tight container for about a week. Enjoy!
