Egg Tadka dish is a Punjab speciality and is available widely in the dhabas. It is very popular lentil dish in Northern India. This is a very easy dish and is served hot with rotis, tandoori rotis, nan or kulchha.
Ingredients for Egg tadka
- Eggs – 4 (scrambled)
- Moong dal gota (green lentil) – 200 grams
- Onion – 2 large (cubed)
- Garlic – 8 flakes (chopped)
- Green chillies – 3 (chopped)
- Tomato – 1 large (cut into 8 pieces)
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Tadka masala – 1 tsp
- Oil – 3 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Procedure for preparing Egg Tadka
Soak the lentil in water for an hour after which drain the water. Cook the moong dal in a pressure cooker with a little turmeric powder and salt upto 3 whistles.
Heat oil in a pan and add onions, garlic and green chillies and sauté till the onions turn pink. Now add the tadka masala and turmeric powder and stir again for another minute. To this add the tomatoes and cook for two minutes. Finally add the scrambled eggs to this.
Now add the cooked lentils and mash it a bit. add water as per requirement. The dish is now ready to be served hot with rotis, naan or kulchas. Serve onions and green chillies along with it.
