Pazham Pori Recipe

Pazham Pori/ Banana Fritters is a famous delicacy of South India, and a quintessential Kerala snack, it is prepared by a special kind of banana which is called Ethaka or Nenthrapazham. This banana is is dipped in a maida batter and then deep fried. It serves as a fantastic snack item.

Ingredients for Pazham Pori Recipe

  • Big Bananas (ethaka/Nenthrapazham) – 1
  • All purpose flour(maida) – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 2 tsp
  • Water – as per requirement
  • Oil – for deep frying

Procedure for preparing Pazham Pori

Cut the banana horizontally into two halves and then slice the banana in thin strips (not very thin or very thick) in such a way that you can get 8-10 thin strips. Meanwhile make a batter by mixing the maida, sugar and enough water to make a medium consistency batter.

Heat enough oil in a pan. Now dip the thin banana strips in this batter and the deep fry them in the oil.

Serve hot as a delicious snack in the evening with tea/coffee or otherwise as well.
