It’s best to have with hot steamed rice, you may consider this analogous to having hot steamed rice & butter, but with spice & a unique flavour

Ingredients for Ilish Macher Tel Recipe
- Ilisher Tel/Fat of Hilsa fish – 100 gms
- Onion – 4(chopped)
- Green chillies – 2(slit)
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Dry red chillies – 2 (broken in halves)
- Kala Jeera/Black Cumin – 1 tsp
- Mustard oil – 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – a pich
- Salt – to taste
Procedure for Preparing Ilish Macher Tel Recipe
Heat mustard oil in a kadhai/pan and add the kala jeera, allow it to splutter and then add the dry red chillies.
Now, add the chopped onions, garlic, turmeric powder and green chillies and mix well.
To this add the tel of ilish and then add salt and fry for 5-6 minutes till oil starts leaving.
Check seasoning and serve with steamed rice.
